3. Set delimiters for .csv file

This step has a number of important settings. Be sure to verify them to ensure successful export.

Fields Delimeters and Additional Settings

The first option is the delimiter character. The most popular delimiters are the comma (,), semicolon (;) and the tab character ( ), however, other symbols can be used as well.

The Export file is usually generated in order to perform subsequent Products import operations. If an incorrect delimiter is specified during import, the file will not be parsed properly, and the products will not be imported. The second option, quote string values, is used to separate strings in the .csv file.

The Category delimiter is not a native .csv setting and is used only in, and by, Store Manager. Categories are organized in the form of a "Tree", where one category may contain one, or more subcategories, and each subcategory may contain one, or more, other categories. The category delimiter character is used to separate category names, and to specify the full category tree path, for a given product. The category path is very similar to the directory path and is used to specify a fully qualified file name, in Windows. Each directory is separated by a backslash (\) character. An typical example would be:

C:\Program Files\eMagicOne\Store Manager for Magento\

A further example of a category path for 'Camping Tents' subcategory is illustrated in the image below, for the 'Default Category|Best Sellers|Camping, Tourism & Outdoor|Camping Tents'. The Pipe (|) character is used as a separator.

Category Tree in Store Manager

If products, that you are exporting, are of the downloadable type, you should, in the relevant section, check field "Export Files", and specify the directory on your local disk where the files for download are located.

Images - The Default Images Path, is where your image files should be stored.

5. Select the fields that you want to be exported:

Select Fields to Export

All available fields that can be exported are listed in the left pane. Select the fields that you want to export, and click the [>] button, to move them into the right pane. If you'd like to export all fields press [>>]

The order in which columns will be saved in the .csv file may be changed. Do this by moving the export columns up and down, using the corresponding directional button(s).

You can check relations between products that you are exporting, by putting a check mark in front of the relevant fields, and indicate the parameter(s) (ID number or SKU), by which the products are related.

When you press the [Export] Button, the products export process will begin!

Multi-product types and their additional components

If you need to export products from your store with additional components like bundle, configurable, grouped products with cross/up-sells items:

Multi-products Types

do not forget to choose the required checkboxes on the appropriate step of Export Wizard:

Product Relations

It helps to save existing relations between exporting data and get the correct file.

So, you can see the products and their components (which were checked earlier) are displayed in the separate columns after export.

Such structure of the file is perfect for reverse process - import - if you need, for example, to transfer these data to another store or when updating the details after changes in a source file as well.

6. Before proceeding, Preview and verify the export file results.

Preview Export and Save Configuration

Choose what action(s) to perform, after saving the export data, or, if "None" is selected, the Wizard will be closed automatically upon completion of the process. If you wish to open a directory containing the results file, check the relevant option, "Open result file", which will allow you to see the export file, using Microsoft Excel, or other comparable product.

You may save all your Export Settings for future reuse.

When finished, close the Import/Export Products wizard, by pressing the [Finish] button.
