MAC Users - Connection Wizard
To start working with the Store Manager for the first time, establish the connection with the store. If the proper connection is not configured yet, you will be able to perform the following action in Connection Wizard. In this case the initial page of Connection Wizard offers you to select an action you need:
"Create new connection" starts the configuration process. Determine which type of connection you prefer to use in the next stage:
Connect via native Magento Module
This option allows to configure connection through the Magento Store Manager Connector module. It requires an access to the admin panel, Magento marketplace account and FTP settings details.
Next you have to specify the URL path to the store on the Configuration page:
The data related to login and password should be taken from the module’s Settings page at the store’s back-end:
If you get a message about successful connection, you will be able to press the [Next] button to proceed:
The data is ready for retrieving and restoring now. Hit the [Get Data] button to start the uploading process:
On the screenshot below you can see the results of the process step-by-step. Time and percentage indication could be seen in the upper progress bars.
Wait until the process is completed. In this case you should see the 100% on the progress bar.
Click [Next] to get to the last step of the wizard. The information on the current configuration name will be generated automatically.
A brief description of the current connection can be added in the "Description" field, as it is shown on the illustration below:
Preview conditions that are available in the current form. Choose one(s) you want to activate:
- "Add this connection to "Favorites". Select this checkbox to apply a current configuration to the "Favorites" section of Store Manager.
- "Activate this connection once the Wizard finished". A condition that allows to connect to the store with the current settings details right after closing the Connection Wizard.
The [OK] button activates the connection and closes the wizard simultaneously.
Connect via Bridge
Thsi type of connection serves for working with your store’s database remotely. You can use it in off-mode and all changes will be placed in the database locally.
For data synchronization you have to perform two required actions by using the bridge connection type as "Get Data from Web" and "Post Changes to Web" from Store Manager’s.
On the initial page of the Connection Wizard specify the server name, user name and password to connect to FTP server firstly.
You should indicate the correct path to your main directory on FTP, where the folders of the store are placed, in the "Store root directory" field.
In case the specified FTP credentials is actual and correct, click the FTP browse button which opens the server's directories and helps to find a necessary location.
The additional settings fields become available after pressing an option illustrated below:
In case you use the secure connection or FTP proxy to connect to the server the following expanded forms help to specify the necessary settings details.
Fill the fields and verify the correctness of the connection using [Test connection]:
After confirmation of the successful connection you will be able to specify the main settings details as bridge URL, login and password from the bridge.php file. This can be done on the next step ot the wizard.
There are some important notes:
- If the bridge file is already uploaded on FTP, the field with bridge URL will be generated automatically; or you can select it from a list which activates after pressing the arrow sign in the upper field (see an illustration below)
- In case the path to the bridge is not valid, most likely the bridge file is unavailable at the store root directory and you should upload it manually
Click the [Upload bridge] button to start uploading:
Confirm your action in the following pop-up message:
Once it is completed, the bridge URL will be automatically generated and specified in the upper field. The following message informs that the bridge is already uploaded:
Take into account the hidden form within Advanced Settings, which can be expanded by clicking the field’s name area.
- "Post Block Size". This is a size in kilobytes of the data packets, which can be received in bridge.php file and it depends on the server (hosting) settings. You can set the lower or keep the default value in this field.
- "Optimize Speed". This checkbox relates to the "Get Data from Web" option, and allows to retrieve only the tables from the entire store database, which are required for Store Manager, thereby making the getting process faster.
Database Configuration
This step allows to select database that you want to connect to by using the databases list.
It generates due to the settings details specified on the previous steps. In case the settings are configured properly, you should see the databases available at the Host Computer after pressing the following option:
Get SQL Data from your store
This step servers for verification settings details and, in case of successful result, enables the [Get Data] button, as "Get Data from the web" option.
Launch the process, as the main condition, to start working with the bridge type of connection. The progress shows data re-storing and retrieving process:
The completion of the process displays the 100% in the upper progress bars.
Just a summary of all connection settings
The last step shows the fields with information concerning active connection.
The conditions below allow to place the current connection into the Favorites sector and/or make it activated once the Wizard is completed and closed.
Press [OK] to start connecting.
Alternative Connection
This is a type of connection that connects to the store database directly and requires the FTP settings details; SSH connections can be used as well.
FTP Settings
The process starts from the FTP page, where the basic settings details should be specified:
In case your server supports another protocol and requires the authorization by key or password to connect, call the form with the Advanced FTP Settings and fill the fields with the necessary details:
In addition, the Proxy Settings can be specified in the form, which appears after clicking [Show FTP Proxy Settings]:
Verify connection details to be able to move to the next step:
If you got message about successful connection, you can proceed with the configuration.
Store URL
The next step requires to specify full URL path to the store, which you can verify by clicking [Test Store URL]:
In case you use the HTTP proxy preferences to connect to the database, the hidden advanced form helps you to specify necessary data. Click [Show Proxy Settings] to expand the form:
Check the correctness of the settings with [Test Store URL]. You should see the following message:
MySQL Settings
The next stage of the Direct Connection Wizard shows the main data to connect to the database: name, port, database username and password.
The fields will be filled automatically, if the previous steps are passed successfully, and you have an access to MySQL direct connection for your user (IP address of your computer should be added to the access list). In other cases, you may get the following notification:
To resolve this issue you can follow to this page with the detailed instruction or contact us to get the necessary assistance and help.
The message, as shown on the illustration below, confirms the correctness of the specified credentials and gives a possibility to move to the next step of the wizard:

You can use the browse button to select the database from the drop-down list, but you have to be sure your user, specified before, has the appropriate rights at the host computer, in other cases this list will be unavailable:
The [refresh] button updates the data in the corresponding fields:
Verify the indicated information by pressing the [Test Database name] button and in case success, move to the next step.
