7. Import Attribute Options?
If you go to the Attributes section you can see the list of all assigned and unassigned attribute sets with the appropriate attributes. The Options have only the attributes with DropDown or MultiSelect Input Type such as
manufacturer, status, visibility, country of manufacturer, price view etc.
For example, attribute 'Manufacturer' has its own attribute options. In order to see them click on the 'Edit' attribute button and open the 'Options' tab.
You are able to import or export necessary attribute options to/from a separate file by using the corresponding wizard button.
Open ‘Welcome’ page of import attribute options wizard and choose the necessary position to launch the process.
Select the file to import on the next step. Use the browse button to specify the path to your data.
File Charset field serves for setting the correct coding for your .csv file.
If you have the previous saved import attribute options configuration you can easy load it on this step of import procedure in 'Use configuration' sector (see picture below).
In preview step which appears the next, you have a possibility to check what fields delimiter and quote character are used in the source file.
These delimiters should be installed in the next step of import process - on 'Select fields delimiter...' page. You have to choose the correct values there, otherwise, the import process may not be successful.
Thus, on the preview page (as we can see) the semicolon (;) is used as a separator and values were quoted with the double quote (namely -") characters.
Therefore, you should specify the same settings in the appropriate fields:
The next step helps to link of columns from your CSV file to the relative database fields. By default, the topmost option (First row) in the .csv file contains field names and not values.
It should be checked if the first row contains actual data, otherwise be sure that it remains unchecked.
'Auto link all' serves to automatically determine the relations between columns of the source file and your database fields. It can be used in the case your column .csv names are similar as the database field names.
'Unlink all' helps to cancel any associations between columns made earlier.
Click 'Next' to continue.
Base Formats page shows the basic short, long date formats and separators, and should be left in the most cases without changes.
Click 'Next' to proceed.
You can see there how your data will be imported based on the settings, which have been made in the previous steps of the import process.
Please note, not assigned columns will not be processed and empty values will overwrite existing data values!
On Import Options step you should specify the action before import - if you want just add attribute options to existing ones without any additional changes - select the first variant 'Do nothing',
If you want to remove the existing options to the current attribute before importing the new ones - check the 'Delete all options for current attribute' field.
You can save your import attribute options configuration to a separate file or directly in wizard by pressing the appropriate buttons (see image below).
Press 'Import' to start importing.
The final window of the Import Attribute Options Wizard will display any errors that may have occurred during the import process.
