MAC Users - Connection Wizard
To start working with the Store Manager at the first time establish the connection with the store.
If the appropriate connection is not configured yet, you will be able to perform the following action by helping with the Connection Wizard.
In this case the initial page of Connection Wizard offers you to select an action you need:
‘Create new connection’ command starts the configuration process. Determine which type of connection you prefer to use in the next stage:
Connect via native Magento Module
Allows configuring connection through the Magento Store Manager Connector module. Requires an access to the admin panel, Magento marketplace account and FTP settings details. Specify the URL path to the store on the Configuration page:
The data related to login and password should be taken from the module’s Settings page at the store’s Back-End:
If you get a message about successful connection you will be able to press the ‘Next’ button to proceed:
The data are ready for retrieving and restoring now. Hit the button, represented below to start the uploading process:
In the lower screen you can see the results of the process step-by-step with the appropriate time indication. The upper progress bars display the percentage of its passing.
Wait until the process is completed - you should see the ‘100%’ value in the top ribbons.
Click on the ‘Next’ to get to the last step of the wizard. The information on the current configuration name will be generated automatically in the appropriate field.
A brief description of the current connection can be added below:
Preview conditions which are available in the current form. Choose one(s) you want to activate:
- A condition which allows connecting to the store with the current settings details right after closing the Connection Wizard;
- To apply a current configuration to the Favorites section of Store Manager.
‘OK’ button activates the connection and closes the wizard simultaneously.
Connect via Bridge
Serves for working with your store’s database remotely. You can use it in off-mode and all changes will be placed in the database locally.
For data synchronization you have to perform two required actions by using the bridge connection type as 'Get Data from Web' and 'Post Changes to Web' from the Store Manager’s side.
On the initial page of Connection Wizard specify the server name, user name and password to connect to FTP server firstly.
Store root directory - you should indicate the correct path to your main directory on FTP where the folders of the store are placed.
In case the specified FTP credentials is actual and correctly, click on the 'FTP' browser button which opens the server's directories and helps to find a necessary location.
The additional settings fields become available after pressing an option illustrated below:
In case you use the secure connection or FTP proxy to connect to the server the following expanded forms help to specify the necessary settings details.
Fill the fields and verify the correctness of the connection using the option below:
After confirmation of the successful connection you will be able to specify the main settings details as bridge URL, login and password from the bridge.php file on the next step.
There are some important aspects which you should take into account:
- If the bridge file is already uploaded on FTP the field with bridge URL will be generated automatically or you can select it from a list which activates after pressing the arrow sign in the upper field (see an illustration below):
- In case the path to the bridge is not valid, most likely the bridge file is unavailable at the store root directory and you should to upload it manually.
Click on the 'Upload bridge' sign below to start uploading in that case:
Confirm your action in the following pop-up message:
Once it is completed the bridge URL will be automated generated and specified in the upper field. The following message informs that the bridge is already uploaded.
Take into account the hidden form with Advanced Settings which can be expanded by clicking on the field’s name area.
- post block size - this is a size in kilobytes of the data packets which can be received by bridge.php file and it depends on the server (hosting) settings. You can set the lower or keep the default value in this field.
- optimize speed - relates to the Get Data from Web action and allows to retrieve only the tables from the entire store database which are required for Store Manager thereby making the getting process more faster and optimal.
The Database Configuration step allows selecting database which you want to connect to by using the databases list.
It generates due to the settings details specified on the previous steps. In case the settings are configured properly you should see the databases available at the Host Computer after pressing such option:
‘Next’ option servers for verification settings details in the current step and, in case the successful result, gives an access to move to the next stage - Get Data from the web.
Launch the current process as the main condition to start work with the Bridge type of connection. The progress bar will show you the steps of data re-storing and retrieving in the table below:
The completion of the process displays the 100% value in the upper rows.
The last step shows the fields with the connection name and description - some information concerning active connection.
The conditions below allow to place the current connection into the Favorites sector and/or make it activated once the Wizard is completed and closed.
Press 'OK' to start connecting.
This is a type of connection which connects to the store database directly and requires the FTP settings details and SSH connections can be used as well.

Verify connection details to be able to move to the next step:
If you got message about successfully connecting you can proceed with the configuration. The next step requires to specify full URL path to the store which you can verify by helping with the option below:
In case you use the HTTP proxy preferences to connect to the database the hidden advanced form helps you to specify necessary data. Click on the 'Show Proxy Settings' field to expand the form:
Check the correctness of the settings by helping with the test option in the lower left side of the current page. you should see the following message:
The next stage of the direct connection wizard shows the main data to connect to the database as server-name, port, database username and password.
The fields will be filled automatically if the previous steps are passed successfully and you have an access for MySQL direct connection to your user (IP address of your computer should be added to the access list). In other cases, you may get the following notification:
Database configuration step depending on the previous settings details determines the database name and database prefix if any.
You can use the browser option to select the database from the drop-down list, but you have to be sure your user, specified before, has the appropriate rights at the host computer, in other cases such list will be unavailable for you:
The refresh options update the data in the corresponding fields:
Verify the indicated information pressing the 'Test Database name' option and if case successful message - move to the next step.
